Ben Finlay, Founder
Ben is the Founder, energy and passion behind Plesion Capital. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a foundation in faith, Ben has devoted his professional life to sustainable impact: real, for-profit enterprises that integrate transformational social change in impoverished and under-served areas around the world. Ben has long been an active investor, with specific experience in proptech venture capital in both the US and London.
Ben launched Plesion Capital as a student at Princeton University where he has studied Religion, and in particular the history of the Early Christian Church, but also economics and entrepreneurship. He graduated from Princeton Summa Cum Laude. He has also studied New Testament Greek at Harvard Divinity School. Ben was elected Captain of the Princeton Men’s Varsity Lacrosse team. Today, Ben looks forward to continuing the growth of Plesion Capital and working towards the fulfillment of the fund's goal of investing in highly scalable and highly impactful businesses in sub-Saharan Africa.
Muchiru Kuria is a Partner at Plesion Capital. Joining in 2024, Mr. Kuria leads Plesion Capital in executing its investment startegies in its focused verticals and fulfilling our goals of building a portfolio of the most promising startups on the continent. To accomplish such goals, Mr. Kuria brings a diverse array of experiences both on and off the continent.
Before joining Plesion Capital, Mr. Kuria, the Nairobi-native, has been investing on the continent for the last 8+ years. He brings experience leading deals across multiple sectors, such as agriculture, education, fintech, climate, and more. Mr. Kuria leads our operations on the ground and is located in Nairobi, Kenya. Mr. Kuria's academic career has brought him to Judge Business School at Cambridge University, King's College London, and the University College London at master's level. Outside of his work as a venture capitalist, Mr. Kuria has interests in histories and antiquities, particularly those of the Romans, Byzantines, and the Holy Roman Empire.
